Variación social de (x-) en el habla de Barranquilla

Abstract

Este artículo investiga la variación en la fricativa velar sorda (x-) en Barranquilla. Para esto se analiza una muestra de 36 entrevistas del PRESEEA- Barranquilla- Co. Se opta por variables preestratificatorias y postestratificatorias y se realiza un análisis estadístico usando el software Goldvarb con el cual se examinan 1.800 casos obtenidos después de los primeros diez minutos de cada entrevista que arrojan: a) una condición de variación estable con alta frecuencia de realizaciones faríngeas; b) favorecimiento de la variante [ʝ] por parte de las mujeres siendo el grupo que encabeza la inserción de esta nueva forma; c) procesos de autocorrección e hipercorrección; d) procesos de acomodación condicionados por la covariación de factores sociales; y e) las variantes de (x-) desde la Teoría de la Optimidad (TOp) se formaliza con las restricciones MAX- IO, DEP- LINK y *ONSET/ħ.

Abstract: This article is a research on the variations of the voiceless velar fricative (x-) in Barranquilla, Colombia. A sample of 36 interviews of the PRESEEA-Barranquilla was analyzed. Pre-stratificatory and post-stratificatory variables were chosen to make a statistical analysis using the Goldvarb software in which 1,800 cases obtained after the first ten minutes of each interview were examined and they showed: a) a stable variation condition with a high frequency of pharynx execution; b) a favoring of the [ʝ] variation from the women´s group which was also the group leading in the insertion of this new way; c) self-correcting and hyper-correcting processes; d) accommodation processes conditioned by the co-variations of social factors; and e) the variations of (x-) from the Optimality Theory (OT) formalizing with the MAX- IO, DEP- LINK y *ONSET/ħ restrictions.
