Abstract:
Political systems in Latin America are not static; this allows us to understand their
dynamism and effects of social, economic, and political phenomena that directly impact
democracy and institutions. Through this research we explore the evolutionary effects of
the Colombian Political System and its correlation with the Party System and the Electoral
System. The research exposes the atomization of Political Parties in Colombia, their
Effective Number of Parties, and the influence of outsider leaderships and social
movements to this evolution process
